We are Stargazer Spirits, and our mission is to make world class, distinct agave spirits from estate-grown agave farmed in Glen Ellen, California. Our farm is located in the Moon Mountain AVA (American Viticultural Area), a tiny and mountainous wine-producing appellation known for its rocky, volcanic soils, Pacific Ocean breezes, and extraordinary cabernet sauvignon. So of course we planted … agave! We adore agave spirits of all kinds, and we strongly believe that our terroir will produce agave spirits of quality, structure, and nuance equal to the wines made here.
We were one of the first growers to plant agave in California for spirits production, planting over 30 varieties in a wild experiment to see what might grow well in our climate and soils. The first three years of our project has seen successes (Tobala in Sonoma?) and failures (looking at you, Espadin).
